The lake is among the 25 largest lakes in the world and the sixth in the list of the deepest lakes in the world. If translated from the Kyrgyz language, it means "hot lake", since Issyk-Kul does not freeze in winter. Due to the salinity of water, the heat reserves in the water column and mild winters, the lake is not covered with ice. Issyk-Kul is the second most transparent lake in the world, after lake Baikal. The tourists are becoming more and more interested in this lake each year. The lake has long been loved by both residents of the CIS countries and distant tourists from Western countries.

  • The volume of water is 1738 km³;

Kyrgyzstan is an amazing mountainous country located in the very heart of Central Asia. About 3/4 of the territory is covered with mountains. It seems that the country spilled over into the mighty and age-old mountain ranges of the Tien Shan and Pamir-Alai.

The main treasure of Kyrgyzstan is its pristine nature, which brings together mountain ranges and valleys, alpine meadows and snowy peaks, fast rivers and mountain lakes. There are more than 6.5 thousand glaciers in Kyrgyzstan, which are the origins for more than 28 thousand rivers. The largest forest reserves in Central Asia are located on the territory of Kyrgyzstan, in which such rare animals as the snow leopard and argali are preserved. The natural treasure of the republic is the high-mountain non-freezing lake Issyk-Kul, located at an altitude of 1606 m above sea level.
